DO YOU KNOW THE MAINTENANCE COST OF YOUR CAR?

------ AUTOMOBILE 101 ------

WE SUFFER FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE

A friend want to buy a car and sent me this pictures asking me to recomend one for him.
I told him this they are same. Three of them are like Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
He didt understand then i went further to explain.

▪︎ Do you know buying a car is not a problem but maintaining it.
▪︎Do you know all cars are good, they simply give you what you gave them.
▪︎Do you know about BORDER SHARING in automobiles?
▪︎Do you know all car manufacturers are doing boarder sharing for things to be easy for them and us but out of ignorance we choose to suffer ourselves.

When I say BORDER SHARING I mean cars of similar features using same parts.
Cars made whithin same period , apart from body parts other parts, underneath, suspension, engine are same.
Let me put it like this:
THOSE PARTS THAT DIDN'T AFFECT THE SHAPE OF THE CAR are almost same for  car companies whithin a time frame of about 5 years before they change it completely.
For example something like sienna, Rx, Highlander, Camry etc of same range of year use same engine, suspension and underneath and other parts.

You see those our brothers selling parts they are very smart.
They use your ignorance against you same time they are truthful but we don't believe them. Most times they will always tell you "Oga this one no be its own but buy am it go work am, they are same thing" yet we don't believe them.
Haven't you asked yourself why anytime you enter the market to buy parts, even if your with the spoilt part  they will still ask you "which car get am"?
It's just to know your level of ignorance so they will know how to charge you. For example fuel pump, ball joints, nozzles, tie rod, brake pads etc of Honda civic , Crosstour , Accord, Acura etc are same but if your buying like Crosstour or Acura own you buy it more costly than the civic or Accord own.

Something like spring, shock absorbers of vehicles like Highlander , old Mercedes 190, Vboot, Rx are now very expensive because it's now hot cake for transporters using Sienna.
Do you know why Toyota Corolla is one of the most expensive car to maintain in Nigeria? It's because Corolla is unfortunately sharing parts with some bigger vehicles, so there is too much pressure and demand for its parts.  For example the Corolla uses same underneath parts like ball joint, linkages, fuel pump etc with bigger vehicles like Hilux, Sienna, Hummer bus, etc.

Let's go to American cars. American cars are the best in parts sharing. They even share across companies. Makes like Ford, Jeep, Mazda, Lincoln, Buick, GMC etc share engine, engine parts and underneath not minding they are different companies.
Something like Ford Edge, Mazda CX-7, Mazda MPV, Lincoln MKX, Tarus etc are like Saturday and Sunday.

What of Volkswagen, Scoda, Audi, Seat etc are same. Each time I go to buy parts or engine, people always ask how I manage to buy them cheaper. It's not magic, all you need is to know the parts  well and their interchangeablity with other vehicles and companies they share parts with so if you want to buy tell them is for the other vehicle you think is cheaper then your pocket will feel the magic.

Prevention is cheaper than buying new Engine, but if you finish your engine I can help you fix it or buy a new one.
I've done my part buy giving you this tips free of charge, its left for you to do the right thing.

Thank you all.

The Role of a Catalytic Converter in Your Car and the Effects of a Bad One

When it comes to your car’s exhaust system, the catalytic converter (often called the "catalyst") plays a crucial role in reducing harmful emissions. However, when it fails, it can lead to performance issues and even legal problems. In this blog post, we’ll explore **how a catalytic converter works** and **what happens when it goes bad**.   What Does a Catalytic Converter Do? The catalytic converter is an essential part of your car’s exhaust system. Its main job is to **convert harmful pollutants into less harmful gases** before they exit the tailpipe. Here’s how it works:   1. Reduces Harmful Emissions The catalyst contains precious metals like platinum, palladium, and rhodium, which facilitate chemical reactions that break down pollutants:   - Carbon monoxide (CO)→ Converted into carbon dioxide (CO₂) - Hydrocarbons (HC)→ Converted into water (H₂O) and CO₂  - Nitrogen oxides (NOx) → Broken down into nitrogen (N₂) and oxygen (O₂)* 2. Helps M...

VEHICLE MAINTENANCE ALERT!

------ AUTOMOBILE 101 ------ >>> MAINTENANCE ALARM <<< i just serviced my car but this alarm is still there, what do i do? I've treated this topic so many times but same question keep coming.  To make this simple, this alarm.is to notify you that your engine is due for oil change. But bear in mind the ECU of your car is not intelligent like human brain to know you just changed oil. This is OIL LIFE that work with mileage counter working hand in hand with your odometer and once the vehicle have covered some kilometers/miles the alarm pops up to imform you that the vehicle now need oil change since it have covered the required distance. This duration is dependent on the car make and the manufacturer. Vehicles like German machines have longer counts while vehicles like Japanese have shorter count. Each time you do an oil change always reset this oil life to start counting down again from 100% once it gets down to 10% or 20% this alarm pops up. So each tim...

Timing Belt vs. Timing Chain: Understanding the Difference and Knowing When to Replace

When it comes to your car’s engine, the timing system plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth operation. Two common types of timing mechanisms are the timing belt and the timing chain. While both serve the same fundamental purpose of synchronizing the rotation of the crankshaft and camshaft, they differ in material, durability, and maintenance requirements.   In this blog post, we’ll explore the differences between timing belts and timing chains, their pros and cons, and when you should consider replacing them to avoid costly engine damage.   Timing Belt vs. Timing Chain: Key Differences 1. Timing Belt - Material: Made of reinforced rubber with high-tensile fibers (like fiberglass or Kevlar).   - Operation: Runs quietly and smoothly.   - Maintenance: Requires periodic replacement (typically every 60,000 to 100,000 miles, depending on the manufacturer).   - Cost: Generally cheaper to replace than a timing chain but must be changed proacti...
